How it works in practice
East Midlands Manufacturing

A precision metal fabrication company based in the Midlands, with ~40 staff and a large, south-facing workshop roof. Their energy usage was consistent throughout the working day, with peak demand during CNC and welding operations.
Monthly energy bill: ~£3,500
Energy use pattern: 9am–6pm
Roof size: 1,000m², unobstructed
PPA term selected: 10 years, with buyout option from year 5
1. Model Savings
Using our in house solar design software, we modelled a 130kWp system projected to generate ~117,000 kWh/year. The business received a proposal showing: PPA rate: 14.2p/kWh Grid rate at time: 22.5p/kWh Estimated annual savings: £12,300 Carbon savings: 24 tonnes CO₂ per year
2. funding options
They selected the Power Purchase Agreement, allowing them to: Pay nothing upfront Buy the solar electricity at a fixed rate, lower than the grid Retain the option to buy the system outright from year 5
3. install
Granyt arranged the installation through a vetted Midlands-based commercial installer. The system was installed over 9 working days, with no disruption to operations. Install notes: Rooftop mounting on steel frame roof 325 Tier-1 solar panels Grid connection paperwork handled by Granyt
4. Start saving
The system went live in early 2025. From day one, the company started paying less per kWh than they had been paying their energy supplier — with zero capex. Granyt monitors the system remotely and provides monthly reports on generation and savings. They will make £14,300/year in projected savings in Year One.
